How Carpeet works

The method

The claw test

A low pile with no loops gives claws nothing to catch. This page is the method. A result goes up only when the report is in. No design is marked as passed.

The protocol

  1. 01

    Rub

A weighted claw tool drags across the weave in four directions.

  2. 02

    Count

Pulled threads and loops that opened. A surface that ladders fails.

  3. 03

    Wash

The swatch goes through a cold cycle. The test counts only if it still looks like the rug.

  4. 04

    Publish

A design is named here only with the report. Until then, the page stops at the method.

Loops are the problem

A looped pile gives a claw a place to hook. A low pile does not. That is the construction. It is not a score, and it is not a claim that one design has passed.
