How Carpeet works

Made for the people who live on the floor.

Kids, babies and pets spend more time on the rug than anyone else. The fibres, the grip and the tests are chosen for that.

What we check

In plain English. Lab reports are added with the lab name, date and scope as each certificate arrives.

01

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

An independent test for substances harmful to health. It covers the fibres, dyes and finishes of the top layer, the part skin, kids and pets touch. Colour is solution-dyed into the fibre, so it does not sit on small hands.

02

US flammability

CPSC 16 CFR 1630 covers large rugs. 16 CFR 1631 covers small rugs and runners. Every rug sold in the US has to pass the matching surface flammability test.

03

California Prop 65

A California law that requires a warning if a listed chemical is above a set level. Our assessment, and any notice it requires, is on the policies page. Read the Prop 65 notice

04

What the label says

Fibre content, country of origin and care instructions are printed on every rug, and repeated on the product page. No claim goes on the site that is not on the label.

Materials

What it is made of

The top layer is woven from 100% recycled PET and solution-dyed, so the colour is locked into the fibre. The pad underneath is natural rubber. It grips wood, tile and concrete, and it does not go in the wash.

Natural rubber contains latex. If anyone in your home has a latex allergy, write to us before you order and we will help you decide.

Safe to live on

01

It stays put

The rubber pad grips the floor, so the rug does not skate when someone runs across it.

02

Low edges

A low pile and a thin pad keep the edge close to the floor, so it is less likely to catch a foot or a door.

03

Nothing to catch

No loose loops. Fewer places for fingers, claws or a vacuum beater bar to snag.

Questions

Are Carpeet rugs safe for kids?

They are household rugs, tested to US flammability rules, with an OEKO-TEX top layer. A kids' room is a room we photograph, not a separate children's product line.

Do the rugs smell when new?

They are rolled for shipping. Airing for a few hours is usually enough. Tell us if it is not.

Where are the rugs made?

Country of origin is printed on every label and on each product page.
